There is special emphasis on the place of relics in Welsh tribal society, where they were extremely important and subsequently in the Middle Ages, where rogues sometimes traded in fakes and were punished for it. In fact the Vatican intervened a couple of years ago when people were trying to sell a relic on ebay!!
